About Conserve Utah Valley

Conserve Utah Valley is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to protecting and sustaining the treasured canyons, foothills, open spaces, and waters of Utah Valley.  Conserve Utah Valley seeks to work collaboratively with all levels of government, the business community, and individuals to preserve spaces that add so much to our quality of life.

 

Compensation

  • Wages of $15/hr paid biweekly

 

Responsibilities of Event Planning Intern

  • Plan events throughout the year focused on preserving land and water forever in Utah Valley
    • At least one event per quarter
    • Events can be educational (town halls), service oriented (cleanups), community building (casual get togethers, meet the CUV team, hikes), fundraising (auctions, dinners), etc.
  • Help carry out the events planned
    • Find speakers for events
    • Find venues for events
    • Work with communications team to spread the word about events by creating flyers, reaching out to partners, and creating content to share on social media and in newsletters
  • Maintain productive relationships with other organizations who we have partnered with for events in the past (Provo City, Utah Lake Authority, State Agencies, Utah Open Lands, etc.)

 

We expect the Events Intern to spend an average of 10 hours per week working on event planning. Some weeks will require fewer hours while others–such as the week leading up to the events–may require up to 15 hours.

 

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, creative individual
  • Willing to work with a team and support Conserve Utah Valley’s mission
  • Passionate about preserving Utah Valley’s natural gems
  • Able to communicate effectively in speech and writing
  • Experience with planning and hosting events
  • Experience with Canva and/or other graphic design programs
  • Willing to learn new skills and information
